THIS IS HOW WE DID IT!.........
EVERYONE COUNTS!
FirstCoast MCC’s Building Dedication Tasks Force
Each person is given something to do that shows who God is: Everyone gets in on it, everyone benefits. All kinds of things are handed out by the Spirit, and to all kinds of people!
1 Corinthians 12:7 The Message
Right now we have 11 dynamic teams of volunteer folks who are working on a daily basis to make sure that we’ll have all that we need in place when the EXCITING time comes for us to move into our new sanctuary. If you’d like to join any of these groups or to make a donation please feel free to contact us! You can email our church administrator Elizabeth at Peaceliz@aol.com for further information.
Our teams are:
PRAYER TEAM: Leaders: Deb, Elizabeth - Liaison: Elizabeth We are so excited about what is happening! We had our first "Prayer at 1:10 on this past Sunday before church" (we need a name for that!) with about 10 faithful folks gathered to lift up the church, the leaders, and any personal prayer needs. This is led by different people from the Prayer Team. We also have volunteers writing prayers for the Prayerpage each week (the first two were AWESOME!) and a special prayer on "Can Do Sunday", after Mari gives us our building update. We are working on a prayer card for people to take home to pray with each day.
GUESTS TEAM: Leaders: Louise, KK - Liaison: Elizabeth
This team met an came up with a large list of "possibilities" includinng local people such as the Mayor and Representatives, etc....singers, groups and or individuals, other houses of worship and the list goes on. At this time they are pursuing Ray Boltz (Christian singer "Thank You for Giving to the Lord") with regards to his concert requirements as othrs are possibly easier to book/pay for. The work of this team is now waiting on the plan from the Service Team.
Any more suggestions?

DÉCOR TEAM:
Leaders: Pru, Coretha - Liaison: Elizabeth
This team is moving right along on the layout/sizes, and working on supplies needed or desired. They have a few ideas for 'decorating' and are coordinating paint colors with the Chair Team. Designs for the Altar and Pulpit are being formulated with the hopes of having materials donated for handmade items. Our floor donation material was no longer viable, so that person has donated $$ toward the flooring. The Decor Team is now researching material options as part of its work.

LANDSCAPING TEAM: Leaders: Sandy, Lynne, Carole - Liaison: Mari
The leaders and Mari met at the property on Wednesday 9/15 to do a walk through of the land to obtain soil samples for SJC to do testing to see what would grow with the soil right now and what needs to be done to the soil to allow us to plant native trees/plants. The leaders also have met with two different landscape engineers to discuss updating our plans to go with the hose BIBB within 50' of plantings. Plans say that OR 100% irrigation per SJC requirements. We are waiting for estimates on that work from the engineers. Sandy is continuing to research to see if there is a possibility of a 'rain garden grant' available to us here in FL. The leaders also did research of various bird houses and bat houses as they get ready to have a meeting with the entire landscape team. They want to be prepared to give some specific needs for folks to begin growing some trees at home to transplant at a later date, build birdhouses, etc.
They are also researching the possibility of having a pet garden and determining the SJC requirements relative to that.
UPDATE: The landscaping team continues to work on this huge project making sure that we are in compliance with the 'tree rules' of the county as well as keeping it in mind not to disturb the 'natural surroundings' and beauty of the land.

TIME CAPSULE TEAM: LEADERS: Shirlee, E. Michelle - Liaison: Mari
FirstCoast MCC is history in the making in several ways. Our first sanctuary will be a log cabin as well as Metropolitan Community Church’s first sanctuary in the historic city of St. Augustine, Florida. We thought that creating a Time capsule would be a great idea.
At the last meeting they discussed creating a document on lignin paper of what is happening in the world at this time and information about Metropolitan Community Churches. The thought is to bury it at the time of the building dedication with the idea of repeating this process every 13 years since that is how long FirstCoast MCC has been a church. In another 13 years the Board of Directors at that time can dig it up and repeat the process.
The Time Capsule Team is planning to use PVC to make the capsule and to busy it in one of our gardens.

CHAIRS TEAM: Carol, Shirley - Liaison Jan
Because the sanctuary will be used for multiple purposes, we will not be using traditional church pews. The chairs have been chosen and the task is underway to get things ready to order. We are working on the different ways to pay for them and praying that the correct options will show up soon because the timing of the order and delivery are crucial. They will also be working closely with the Décor Team to make sure everything is color coordinated.
UPDATE!!!! WE HAVE RECEIVED OUR WONDERFUL CHAIRS!

FOOD TEAM: Sharon, Noreen - Liaison - Jan
This team is involved with feeding folks working on projects along the way as well as for the day (or weekend) of the dedication of the building.

RESEARCH TEAM: Leaders: Carole, Dana - Liaison: Mari
They had their first meeting and continue to work with each team member as to their individual contributions of researching the past history of the FCMCC and continue to build on what is already documented. They continue to do online research on 'log cabin churches' in Florida.

FUNDRAISING TEAM: Leaders Mari, Lydia - Liaison - Mari
Last but surely not least we will be raising the funds to do all of the above. This team will be charged with making sure we get all that we need and as it is needed. They have had special events and participated in events such as Ancient City Pride and River City Pride and more. Keep checking on us as we have more events in the near future.
UPDATE! WE'RE SELLING T-SHIRTS, CALENDARS (wall and pocket), RAINBOW BRACELETS, AND MORE!
Our Italian Feast Fund Raiser/ Silent Auction was a tremendous successs! And we have a lot more planned. Call us or email us if you have any great ideas to help us with these projects.
