               Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Is this really a church?

A:  Yes, FirstCoast MCC formed as a church over 10 years ago.  We are part of the denomination of Metropolitan Community Churches.  We are a church founded in and reaching beyond the gay, lesbian and queer communities. We embody and proclaim Christian salvation and liberation, Christian inclusivity & community, and Christian social action and justice.

Q:  What do I wear?

A:  Appropriate dress for all our worship services is casual.  There will be a wide variety of dress displayed by our congregants ranging from business casual to dress shorts.

Q:  How long does service last?

A:  Our worship services last approximately one hour.  Our regular worship services include prayers, music, a sermon, communion, and scripture readings. Fellowshipping lasts a little longer and all are always welcome to stay.

Q:  Do I have to belong to the MCC or FirstCoastMCC in order to attend services?

A:  No. We welcome people from all religious backgrounds as well as those who do not have one.  All our ministries are open to anyone who is interested in attending.

Q:  What if I am not a Christian?

A:  Our church is a Christ-centered church.  However, we respect every person's right to formulate and practice faith in many different forms.  We like to say, "Come as you are, and believing as you do."

Q:  Can straight people go to MCC?

A:  Certainly!  FirstCoast MCC, as are all Metropolitan Community Churches throughout the world, is an inclusive church. We welcome all people regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, physical or mental ability, language, gender, or sexual orientation.

Q:  Is there food available?

A:  Yes, we have volunteers who serve light refreshments including some sugar free offering, after each service. Coffee and water are also available.

Q:  Are you disability accessible?

A:  Yes.  Our church is ADA approved but beware the parking lot is gravel rocks.
